APARTMENTS - DOLNI VĚSTONICE

2023

The investor's assignment was to design three separate apartments. Simple cubic volumes were distributed on the plot in a cascade manner to enable the use of roofs for residential terraces. Above the largest apartment, which faces the street, a gable roof with a roof made of burnt tiles was erected. The vaulting evokes the atmosphere of caves referring to the history of the area. The interior is not divided by load-bearing walls, but only by light partitions that are sliding or perform the function of shelf systems. Due to the more intense experience of the vaulted space, the full partitions have a height of only 2200 mm and the rest is completed with glass. The vault is also prescribed for the facade in the form of large-format glazing with an arch. A concrete road runs through the entire plot, transitioning from a meandering plane to shallow steps to a classic staircase. In the lower part of the plot there is a relaxation zone with a sauna and a hot tub. Parking and waste storage areas were located as far as possible from the apartments. In addition to non-traditional interior spaces, private outdoor terraces were also important to the design.

EXPOSITION AND DEPOSITORY OF MEASURING TECHNOLOGY – BLANSKO MUSEUM

2023

The subject of the first part of the study was the design of the space for placing the exhibition in the attic of the castle in Blansko. The key values are variability and openness. Due to heritage protection, the building was approached very sensitively and was cleaned of modern deposits in the form of new partitions, surfaces and soffits.

The subject of the second part of the study was the proposal to convert the former carriage house into a depository and public toilets. The carriage house currently functions as a warehouse. The building is located on the grounds of the castle complex in the place where the original castle wall runs. The design works with the so-called "box in box" principle. The historic perimeter masonry will be cleaned and the original historical box will be created. An independently functioning depository and toilet volume will be inserted into this box. The vestibule of the carriage house will be partly paved with granite blocks for supply and partly reinforced with sledgehammer surfaces, which will allow the placement of outdoor furniture. The new road from threshing floor will lead to the outdoor staircase at the gate to the pink alley.

HOUSE IN VELKÉ BÍLOVICE

2022

Due to the disadvantageous orientation of the plot the shape of the house was designed which ensures the penetration of the southern sun's rays into the layout. The basic shape is a house with a gable roof, which was "torn" and connected by a single-story neck with a flat roof. The roof planes, due to their inclination, enable the creation of light strips under the ceiling. Through the newly created atrium, the main living area is flooded with sunlight, the largest glazing of which is oriented to the north to the garden, thanks to which there will be no overheating. The volume of the house is rounded towards the street, which creates a distinctive, soft architectural element ensuring maximum continuity of the space. The tectonics of the volume consists of individual roof planes, resting on the walls or "levitating" above the glazed parts. This concept is visually supported by the grooves in the plaster, separating the beams and supports.

INTERIOR OF AN APARTMENT - ANTONÍNSKÁ, BRNO

2022

Almost all the walls will be preserved from the original layout, except for the bathroom core, which will be demolished. The entrance to the apartment is located approximately in the center of the layout and enables the operational separation of the bedroom. The area of the vestibule was minimized and at the same time fulfills the function of the main communication between the rooms. The bathroom is equipped with a generous shower and sink. Through the new sliding door we get to a smaller room with a double bed and storage spaces. In this room, the window sill will be removed and a French window will be inserted into the opening. The common room, which combines a kitchen, dining room and living room, faces the street. Behind the door is a tall cupboard with a fridge, washing machine and storage space. One corner is intended for a kitchen unit with upper cabinets. The corner under the windows is filled with a sofa with a view of the TV. The last room with a window to the street is a multifunctional room that will be used as needed. It can be a study, a children's room, a chill out zone or a room for guests.

INTERIOR OF AN APARTMENT - PODĚBRADOVA, BRNO

2022

In addition to the apartment itself, the investor also has space in the attic, which he wanted to integrate into the layout. It was thus necessary to create a maisonette from a one-story apartment by inserting a vertical communication in the form of a single-arm staircase by the gable wall. The roof on the 3rd floor will be raised and supplemented with dormers, which will expand the usable area of the attic. The attic will house a bedroom, a bathroom and a chill out zone facing the newly created terrace. As part of the 2nd floor, as few construction modifications as possible will be carried out and the kitchen, dining room, living room and guest room/study will be located here. The concept of external appearance is based on the assumption that the other side of the land will be dealt with similarly. On the 3rd floor there is a multifunctional room that integrates a bedroom, a study and a tea corner. The sleeping "compartment" is accessed by stairs and has a large circular bay window to the street, providing a wide view of the street. We achieved maximum light and sun exposure by placing a portal in the eastern wall of the dormer window, through which the outdoor terrace with seating is accessible.

RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE IN VELATICE

2022

The basic requirement was to design two housing units within a terraced family house. In order to simplify the phasing we proceeded to demolish a part of the house, through which service will be provided on the construction site and in the yard. A part of the building will be preserved, which investors will be able to occupy within the first stage, including the demolition of farm buildings in the yard, the northwestern part and the realization of the addition of a new housing unit. Another requirement was the creation of two parking spaces, which is why the new building was elevated to the 2nd floor level and thus created a connection between the street, the yard and the garden terraces. Vertical communication is provided by a newly inserted staircase, ensuring the connection of both units within the interior. It was essential to preserve the original character of the house towards the street in the form of the existing distribution of windows and the main entrance. The existing corridor will be used as the main entrance, which also serves as a vestibule with storage spaces. The main volume of the extension is offset from the original volume and aligned with the neighboring building.

HOUSE IN STRELICE

2022

The most fundamental aspect that influenced the concept of the shape and location of the house on the plot was sun exposure and regulation in the territorial study. Due to the low level of buildability of the land (only 20%) and the requirements of the investor, it was necessary to place the parking areas below the main volume. Thanks to this, almost the entire buildable area could be designated for the house itself. The figure becomes a simple block resting on two terrain waves, between which a trough is formed, which the house overcomes. The inspiration for the composition was the land itself, which is located in a valley with the characteristic name Žleby II. The house is underpass and has been raised from the level of the pavement due to the slope of the ramps that open below it. The southern facade respects the street line six meters from the property boundary. The symmetrical volume of the house is divided into three units. The outer fields have the character of a concrete wall impenetrable to the street, with a single detail in the form of an entrance door that blends in with the surroundings. The central part of the facade, on the other hand, gives a transparent impression thanks to maximum glazing with subtle frames, covering the entire area, including horizontal structures. HOLIDAY COTTAGE - JEHLICE

2021

Crucial to the design was the placement of the new building in the floor plan of the original building, which will be removed. In the northwestern part of the plot there is an existing barn which, together with a brick wall standing parallel to the perimeter wall of the barn, creates imaginary notches in the garden. These walls will be complemented by two more, bringing out the gable roof of the new cottage. They do not only have a structural function, their volume also includes the space necessary for the operation of the house. In the case of removal of the neighboring building, the land will be supplemented by another parallel wall, creating a visual and sound barrier to public communication. The new building is a single-storey building with an attic. The glass entrance is oriented to the west wall, which also integrates the bathroom, living room and storage space of built-in wardrobes. A kitchen unit, a fireplace insert, a sofa bed and storage spaces are built into the eastern perimeter wall, into which a ladder leading to the attic will enter. The empty space between the perimeter walls is formed by an imaginary "tunnel" terminated on both sides by a large glazing. The outer fields with sofa beds are open to the truss. Thanks to this, the space looks generous and ensures contact with what is happening on the platform. Collaboration: Pavel Čánský, Diana Bevelaquová

RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE - FÜGNEROVA, BRNO

2021

The subject of the assignment is the expansion and opening of the existing premises built at the beginning of the 20th century and the creation of a modern layout with an emphasis on preserving the historic quality of the building. We extend four utilitarian volumes from the existing mass of the building - the lee, the terrace and the dormers, which are either materially suppressed or emphasized, depending on the perception of the proportions of the building. In the exterior, we materially divide the facade and emphasize the entrance and communication spaces of the house, which underlines the concept of composed views through layouts. Towards the garden, an extension will be created with a new entrance to the 1st floor, a warehouse, a retention tank and a sauna. This will create space for a terrace connected to the interior of the apartment and overlooking the garden. The intention is to create composed views of what is happening in the house, the terrace and the greenery of the garden through the entire length of the living space. In the attic, the space will be enlarged by new dormers to the street and garden. The land will be newly fenced and the terrace and vestibule will be shielded from the neighbors by a pergola with a wooden structure and a industrial gratings. RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE - TĚŠÍNSKÁ, BRNO

2021

The main limit of the design was the preservation of the street facade in its original condition. All interventions in the exterior were oriented towards the garden. Construction modifications in the form of an extension of two dormers will be visible only from the courtyard, as they do not exceed the height of the ridge of the original roof. The dormers were designed for the roof plane due to the extension of the inner space of the attic. By placing one above the other and moving towards each other, a generous outdoor terrace accessible from the gallery on the 4th floor is created on the roof of the larger dormer. In terms of volume, the lower dormer connects to the main overhanging part of the house with a horizontal interruption in the form of the original ledge. The upper dormer recedes from the lower edge by 5 meters. The main argument for respecting the existing layout on the 1st and 2nd floors is the preservation of the original historic cladding doors as well as the massive frieze floor. The partitions, load-bearing walls and doors in the first two floors are not relocated. Exceptions are the doors to the bathrooms, which we move due to more efficient use of space, and also the new separate bathroom in the bedroom, whose partitions will be re-walled.

RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE AND A NEW STUDIO - MYSLIBOŘICE

2021

The construction plan consists in the operational division of the house into two separate units. On the 2nd floor, a full-fledged apartment with a new layout will be created, accessible by a new staircase adjacent to the west facade. The area of the existing balcony will be used for the new entrance. In addition to the entrance to the apartment, a staircase connecting the house with the newly built studio is connected to the staircase. There is an existing shed building in the garden, which will be removed and a new building will be built in its place, the dimensions of which will respect the original building with a slight extension. This studio is a partially basement building with a walkable roof, which includes features such as a creative space, a guest apartment and several warehouses. This extension consists of two horizontal volumes. The first block is cut into the sloping terrain of the garden, which contains most of the features. At the same time, it serves as a support for the second, elevated block, fulfilling the connecting function of the footbridge at the 2nd floor level and the outdoor terrace.

APARTMENTS - BROD NAD DYJÍ

2021

The initial condition for creating the study of the recreational complex was a low level of possibility of building-up the area. In an effort to make maximum use of the plot for the apartments themselves (34) and to eliminate the service areas of the roads, a proposal was made to pick up the volume of the apartments by one floor so as to create an area for covered car parking. Due to economic construction, the apartments are placed in a row, then they are "scattered" on a sloping plot like matches, reacting to the morphology of the terrain. In addition to the accommodation units themselves, the complex is complemented by civic amenities such as a restaurant, wine cellar, wellness, swimming pool or gym, as well as outdoor sports grounds. The concrete volume of the construction of civic amenities forms an imaginary backbone, connecting the rows of apartments into one whole, but in several places it is permeable and attracts passers-by to visit the complex.

RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE - BŘEZINOVA, BRNO

2021

It is an attic, the purpose of which is to create a separate housing unit that provides facilities for occasional and long-term living and family reunions. The basic condition of the design is the maximum use of non-traditional attic space while maintaining the greatest possible openness and airiness. The symmetrical floor plan of the truss consists of nine squares, which define the basic division of the layout. The corner fields are on a higher level than the central cross and form elevated podiums with various functions (living room, bedroom or respirium). The floor area of the bedroom has been reduced to leave enough space for the social area. In the middle of the layout, a maisonette accessible by stairs was designed, the usable area of which consists of a "levitating" platform with a mesh railing. This allows views to the highest parts of the truss. The space under the maisonette serves as a communication (so-called crossroads) between the individual functions of the apartment, where a swing is hung.

HOUSE IN ŽIDLOCHOVICE

2020

It is a newly built house that meets the requirements of modern living for a family of three. The building is located in a gap in Nerudova Street, which is located in the village of Židlochovice. Due to the slope of the land, part of the 1st floor will be sunk into the terrain. The 1st floor is connected by two above-ground floors receding towards the garden. Neighboring buildings are two houses with gabled roofs. Due to the height and position differences in the location of neighboring houses, it was not possible to follow the volume of the new building smoothly, so a terraced shape and a flat roof were chosen, which do not compete within the context of the surrounding buildings. With its volume, the house tries to visually connect neighboring buildings. It connects to the northern building with the plane of the facade of the retreating 1st floor. With the southern object holds its overall height. The proposed building is vertically divided into three zones, connected by a direct staircase, which is located along the northern perimeter wall.

HOUSE ON NA NÁVSI ST, BRNO

2020

The design consists of a two-storey house meeting the requirements of modern living for a family with children with a minimum area of communication space on a narrow plot in the gap, after the removal of the existing house. The shape of a house with a gabled roof depends on the shape of the land and responds to the slight slope of the land. The perimeter masonry creates an imaginary protective shell of the house, which is visually and acoustically closed to the adjacent plots. On the contrary, it is open to the street and the garden. The house largely tries to connect to the surrounding buildings and thus reflects the character of the buildings in the area. The interior layout reflects the exterior view of the facade. The interior consists of a volume of individual rooms that communicate directly with the street or garden according to their purpose. The roof is designed as a saddle roof with galvanized sheet metal. The concept envisages a simple and maximally maintenance-free construction and technical solution.

RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE - BŘECLAV

2020

The aim of the project is the new construction of a house and its connection with the street tract of the original house in the Poštorná district in Břeclav. The building modifications consist in the demolition of the garden tract. In its place, a single-storey extension with a residential attic is designed, which is also spatially connected with the original house. The extension building is divided into two parts - social on the ground floor and private in the residential attic. The floor of the first floor in the part of the living room, dining room and kitchen is sunk one meter below the level of the surrounding garden. The solution increases the clear height of the social area and provides views of the surrounding events in the garden. Contact with nature is enhanced by climbing plants on the south and west facades. The second floor visually connects the original building with the new building and faces the street with a triangular gable. The south and west facades are largely glazed with fixed windows in wooden frames. The sheet metal roofing also extends to the facade in the places of the floor and the perimeter wall of the second above-ground floor. Steel ropes are added to the regular grid of the south and west facades, along which climbing plants wind through the flowerbeds.

RECONSTRUCTION OF AN APARTMENT - VAŇKOVO SQUARE, BRNO

2020

The building modifications consist of the demolition of non-load-bearing partitions and the relocation of the bathroom, which enables the connection of the kitchen with the living room and thus creates a generous social space. The main element is the central cylinder, around which the whole layout and spatial events extend. The apartment is divided into two halves - the social and private part. In each room, the cylinder creates a different space.

HOUSE FOR FAMILY RECREATION - PAVLOV

2019

The construction plan consists of designing a house for family recreation in a protected part of the village of Pavlov. The aim of the project is to design an architectural volume that, in its division and form, respects the characteristic scale of the original development and at the same time corresponds to traditional architecture. Selected elements, materials or details in a modern concept continue the local traditions and archetypal perception of regional architecture. The facade of the house responds in a minimalist appearance to the character of the street front with mostly terraced houses and wine cellars, oriented gable to the street. Due to the small scale of the surrounding buildings, the building was also divided into three volumes with a gabled roof, while the connection into one unit remains. At the same time, it does not create a dominant and voluminous mass inside the street or from external distant views. The concept of the facade in the courtyard is completely opposite, glazed areas predominate here. Due to the use of a strong genius loci, the house is oriented to important visual axes and dominants of local importance, ie the church of St. Barbora, the ruins of the Děvičky castle, the silhouette of Pálava, the surrounding vineyards or the Nové Mlýny reservoir. APARTMENT BUILDING II - KOŠULIČOVA, BRNO

2019

The main idea of the study was to design an apartment building on the corner  plot, which is defined on three sides by existing streets (Krátká, Košuličova, Severní). An apartment building designed for a given number of apartments with sufficient sunshine and the possibility of access to its own terrace also forms a mass that respects the character of the surrounding environment and the existing development. The design works with receding mass, which makes it cumbersome, but on the contrary gives the impression of a two-storey terraced house. The horizontal and vertical cascading façade lightens the mass, gives rise to a form whose articulation is airy and does not correspond to a classic apartment building. The front façade follows the street line, the rear façade opens onto the garden, the apartments on the 1st floor have access to the garden via terraces from this side. The house is vertically divided into separate single-storey masses. The semi-recessed parking creates a base on which the apartments on the 1st floor with terraces are stored, the mass of the 2nd floor receding two meters from the longitudinal facades to lighten the volume of the building, create private outdoor terraces and give the impression of a terraced house ending the street front. RECONSTRUCTION OF AN APARTMENT - TUČKOVA, BRNO

2018

The subject of the assignment is construction modifications and overall modernization of the apartment in  First Republic apartment building. The fundamental modifications consist in the demolition of the partition and the relocation of the bathroom, which enables the connection of the kitchen with the living room and thus creates a generous social space. The apartment is thus divided into two halves - a social part and a private part. The hall is separated from the main social space by a partially glazed partition with sliding doors, some of which are replaced by shelving boxes. The optical separation of the kitchen with dining room consists of a change of floor and suspended  frame construction above the kitchen island, which is used to hang the lights, fitting LED tape, hanging flower pots with herbs, etc. The private part of the apartment is separated by a load-bearing wall lined with storage cabinets with a niche for placing a television.

RECONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE - TIŠNOVSKÁ, BRNO

2018

The study includes building modifications and a port to the existing house. The subject is a new layout and extension of the house to provide multi-generational housing. Major modifications consist in the creation of an extension with a garage and 1 residential unit, which also serves as a roof terrace and covered parking spaces. Likewise, the connection of all floors except the attic with the garden of the outdoor gallery. Other modifications are mainly changes in the original layout and give rise to new functional spaces such as housing units, office, living room, etc. The material concept of the house is repeated in different parts of the house in the form of 3 different materials - wood (house extension), white plaster (original mass of the house), anthracite cladding (garage and dormer). The windows remain the original wooden with a natural look, the new windows are also wooden.

RECONSTRUCTION OF AN APARTMENT - BOTANICKÁ, BRNO

2018

The aim of the project are construction modifications and modernization of the apartment in  First Republic apartment building. The modifications address a complete layout reorganization, especially the use of oversized space in the entrance hall to place the bathroom box and create a study / guest room from the original bathroom and pantry. Change from  apartment category 3 + 1 to 4 + kk. Furthermore, breaking through the partition between the rooms creates an open space for a new living room connected to the dining room and kitchen. The building modifications thus create a clear zoning of the apartment into a utility part (hall, bathroom, toilet, corridor), a social part (living room with dining room and kitchen) and a quiet part - a private part (bedroom, children's room, study). The material solution of the apartment with its character gently touches the art deco style. The floor is designed wooden in a tree pattern. The key element is the green wood-paneled central box, which forms the dominant feature in the space. Walnut wood, oak; The colors white, black, green and marble cladding run through all the rooms and create an interconnecting line.

HOUSE IN FRENŠTÁT POD RADHOŠTĚM

2018

The plot is located in Kopaná near Frenštát pod Radhoštěm and provides beautiful views of the Beskydy peaks. The mass and solution of the house responds to the surrounding scenery and makes full use of the potential of the plot. The triangular mass of the house opens towards Radhošť and to the south. The glazing creates a panoramic image over the entire wall of the social space, which freely turns into an outdoor terrace. Along the triangles, there are bedrooms, rooms, technical and sanitary facilities. The garden complements the house and encloses the space in an imaginary square.

HOUSE ON HANSMANNOVA ST, BRNO

2017

The mass of the building is designed as a concrete shell winding from the ground floor through an arch into the street facade and ending in the roof. The shell floats on the glass base of the underground floor formed by translucent glazing. The inner space of the shell is divided by inserting a wooden box with a bedroom, a bathroom and a study into three above-ground residential floors. In the lower part of the house there is a social zone, the quiet zone is located on the 2nd floor and 3rd floor. Existing object in  terraced buildings will be demolished and the new height located with respect to the surrounding buildings. The main load-bearing structure consists of gable walls, facade walls and roof structures, which are formed by a sandwich structure made of exposed reinforced concrete.

APARTMENT BUILDING - KOŠULIČOVA, BRNO

2017

With its material arrangement and articulation, the residential house corresponds to the environment of the surrounding development of houses, in which it is almost entirely placed in a non-traditional garden courtyard. IN  responds to the maximum extent to the area and shape of the land in terms of usability of the land, the transmission of sunlight, sufficient sun exposure of the rooms, distance distances and the variability of the apartments themselves. The division of matter into individual blocks, formed by repeating segments, gives rise to a form whose articulation is airy and corresponds to the scale of the surroundings. The blocks are bounced in height according to the natural slope of the terrain and thus allow entry to all 1st floor apartments from the ground level. The beveling of the walls in the south-north direction optimizes the penetration of natural light inwards and opens up and enlarges the area of the atriums between the blocks. Atria allows the placement of terraces to individual apartments and creates semi-public and semi-private spaces. IN  on the second floor, the outdoor areas of the apartments are designed as terraces, which allow for the possible expansion of adjacent apartments. The roof will be green and will expand the overall comfort of small apartments. The building has a basement with underground garages. Collaboration: Tamara Vojtíšková

HOUSE IN ŽATČANY

2013

The building consists of two fused volumes, highlighted by adjoining gabled roofs. The house is operationally divided into three functional zones on all floors. The first and second living areas consisting of bedrooms and living room are oriented to the street and garden. Inside the layout is a non-residential zone with a staircase, technical and sanitary facilities, and a kitchen with a dining room. The building plot with a width of about 4.9 m and a length of 17 m is located in a terraced house in the historically oldest part of the village Žatčany, called Kout. The surrounding development is one-storey with a residential attic. The existing building will be demolished and the new house will be located in height with regard to the surrounding buildings. The designed house is one-storey, with a residential attic and a partial basement, category 4 + kk. Adjacent to the house is a terraced garden with a garden house. The corridor leading to the entire building includes a vestibule, cloakroom, storage space, kitchen and living room wall. It opens onto the outdoor terrace and continues through the garden to the garden house at the opposite end of the building plot.
